Intro to Spatial Analysis and Maps with Python
Maptime brings experts, beginners, and the curious together all for the sake of spatial learning. Our goal for the Seattle branch of maptime is to connect geospatial professionals with those who desire to learn more about maps and spatial data.

Yes, you read that right - we are having 2 workshops in April!
Intro:
In this workshop, we will introduce Python as a spatial problem solving and data visualization tool. To demonstrate the power of Python for spatial analysis, we will solve a spatial problem and make a beautiful map of our results. We will be using a library called GeoPandas http://geopandas.org, which adds a spatial geometry data type to Pandas (high-performance, easy-to-use “tabular” data structures and data analysis tools) and enables spatial operations on these types, using shapely https://github.com/Toblerity/Shapely. Come learn it with us!

What to bring:
Be sure to bring your laptop! We’ll post more detailed setup instructions before the event.
Target Audience:
This workshop assumes a basic understanding of the Python programming language and vector data processing.
