Drone to Mapping: Harnessing drone technology for GIS mapping
Maptime brings experts, beginners, and the curious together all for the sake of spatial learning. Our goal for the Seattle branch of maptime is to connect geospatial professionals with those who desire to learn more about maps and spatial data.

This meetup aims to help participants gain foundational knowledge in using drones to create maps. It will cover essential topics, including the necessary hardware (drones, cameras, GPS), software processing (open-source/free mapping tools, commercial software), relevant regulations (airspace rules, certification), and a step-by-step workflow for capturing, processing, and visualizing geospatial data. By the end of this meetup, participants will understand the basics of drone hardware and learn how to use software to process collected data for generating aerial imagery with affordable drones and low-cost or free software.
Please note that this lecture-based workshop does not include hands-on activities.
