This month, we’ll learn the basics of setting up Google Earth Enterprise, an open source geospatial application which provides the ability to build and host custom 3D globes and 2D maps.
Please RSVP if and only if you are actually going to come: Security mandates visitors wear printed badges that will need to be prepared beforehand.
What to bring: A laptop with at least 2 cores, 4GB of memory, and 20GB of free disk space. We’ll be installing VirtualBox to run an Ubuntu 16.04 image.
Target Audience: Anyone interested in setting up a server to host global-scale vector, imagery, and heightfield terrain data. At the end of this tutorial, you will have learned how to start Google Earth Server, build your own database, and view it in Google Earth.
Where to go: Google Offices in Fremont, Seattle: 651 N 34th St, Seattle, WA 98103 This is the South building. The entrance is faces a crosswalk on N Northlake Way. You want the side with 6 stairs going up, NOT the side with the vertical “Google” sidewalk sign.
